In the Board of Trustee’s role of providing oversight to Foundation grantmaking, it is helpful for trustees to be versant on best practices.  Below are some opportunities to gain content knowledge and technical expertise in the world of philanthropy and our strategic funding areas.  The information below is sorted by category with multiple types of resources (webinars, articles, conferences) within each category.  This list is not exhaustive, and many other resources exist.  We encourage you to seek out topics of interest to you and ask Foundation staff for help in finding additional resources.

Events:  Trustees are encouraged to support grantees through attendance at performances and events of personal interest.  Unless the Trustee is attending in an official Board capacity to conduct due diligence or evaluation of the grantee on behalf of the Foundation, neither the Foundation nor the individual Trustee can accept complimentary tickets.

Site Visits:  Please contact Foundation staff if you would like to participate in a site visit, and we will make every effort to take your availability into consideration when scheduling the site visit.
